F-Secure Sense, Security in a Box for gadgets and smart home

On the Startup conference Slush 2015 in Helsinki, of course, are already long established companies present, including F-Secure. The Finnish security company presented at the conference before its newest product, which for safety in your own home but to make the move.

F-Secure's classification name for software that displays advertisements

At a previous event gave us Mikko Hypponen, CRO of F-Secure, an insight into the world of hackers and vulnerabilities in the network. It is frightening how easy it is sometimes to hack into a public system. As a security company F-Secure scans continuously the network for open systems and has already made some interesting discoveries, we found interfaces control the motors or adjust the control room for a swimming pool with the possibility of the chlorine content. They also had to look at access to a POS system from Subway and were in a hospital, the vital signs of patients. All these were publicly and for everyone accessible interfaces.

One might even say that the F-Secure Sense systems would need no access to the network, but they are without a user name and password, so absolutely unsecured available. Scary and an absolute security problem! So when even companies and public institutions are unprotected in the network as it looks then in from individuals? Much worse.

In addition to the smartphone, tablet and notebook we have in our home a lot of other devices can not be attacked or tapped. From Smart TV, on the fridge, the wireless lamp up to the baby monitor. According to Gartner, by 2022 we will be more than 500 devices in our homes have connected to WiFi, and therefore potentially vulnerable. A little more security is certainly appropriate here, especially in IP Cams will not necessarily that someone “mitschaut”.

F-Secure will improve security in your own four walls and has presented for F-Secure Sense. This is a hardware and software solution. Sense assumes the task of your Wi-Fi to make sure and imagine a secured Wi-Fi connection available and warns you if any of your equipment makes strange connections to Russia, China or elsewhere. In addition to the hardware, there is an app with which you can control the sense and will also be notified if a device gets out of line and behaves conspicuously.

HP Scanjet 300 The High Resolution Scanner With Cloud Access

HP has introduced a new line of Scanjet scanner. It is a simple device for scanning documents that says to have improved its speed limit to scan a photo in high resolution (200 dpi) in ten seconds and a full page in just eleven seconds.

The HP Scanjet 300 is controlled by a single physical button that calls the default scanning macro you have imposed. Among the possibilities is setup to send the documents directly to the cloud or to an email address.

The Scanjet 300 is available at a price of 199 USD or 79 Euros. Hits stores with a younger brother, with poorer resolution and a more reasonable price, the Scanjet 200. Where Scanjet 300 scans up to 4800 × 4800, the S200 makes a 2400×4800. The price of this second scan is 89 USD or 69 Euros.

Optical Devices Storage

Fujifilm to reveal high performance optical discs with 1TB storage

I will be honest: I do not use for years an optical discs in my computer either CD or DVD . The Blu-Ray computers exist but have been mainly used for video games and movies on the PlayStation 3, and many think that Blu-Ray disk will be precisely the last generation optical discs market. Well this is where comes Fujifilm is asking that his little piece of cake for the future.

Fujifilm to reveal optical discs with 1TB storage

For now it is a draft and is in the labs, but the point is that Fujifilm wants to have 1TB capacity optical discs. The technology is significantly different from the current Blu-Ray but keeps many similarities with it, which would result in a similar trend as we live a few years ago between DVD and BD own.

An interesting fact is the density. Fujifilm’s 20 layers disks poses at 50 GB each (amounting to 1TB in total) in a rate of 25 GB per layer which is the same amount of data a single-layer Blu-ray disc holds. Now with the spotlight on a long term, the company also raised reaches the 15 TB per disk with similar technology but increasing data density. Another important aspect is that because of how aggressive the process, it seems that it will not be feasible to have re-writable disks as if they were common in CD, DVD and also to a lesser extent with BD.

The optical discs live a bad time when ‘the cloud’ and Internet are focusing all efforts of companies. Fujifilm is said could bring to market the first products using this technology in 2015. And for what? For salvation could be at the movies in 4K for a Blu-Ray of 25 or 50 GB could be short. Do you think you have a future?

Cinemin Swivel from WowWee projector for iPod and iPhone

If it is the first time you saw such a pico projector, then you might say that “Eh… what’s the point, slideshows for the smart phone? I doubt it! It is not powerful enough to have practical use.” Think about watching movies in the bathroom! Maybe, but probably you’d have a projector built into your bathroom instead of something separate. Finally the WowWee Robotics to give you the answer with its Cinemin Swivel pico projector: for watching video on the ceiling while you’re in bed, of course, interesting.

Cinemin Swiel Compact pico projector for iPod and iPhone

Like many projectors the Cinemin Swiel DLP is a device with a battery. Actually found this to be adequate for personal use and has satisfactory results with your Apple iPhone 3GS: in a room lit got an image that could be seen up to about 13 in a projection field of two feet. In an entirely dark room it was well up to 30 inches diagonally to five feet. Cinemin Swiel pico projector has 480×320-pixel resolution (HVGA); swivel design. WowWee says the Cinemin Swivel can project an image from 8 inches to 50 inches but you should be especially careful with the approach for anything more 30 inches, while pixels and brightness individual become problematic. The colors were amazingly bright Give the lighting condition of the room.

In battery mode you can use it for about 90 minutes, much less than the 135 minutes they say in the papers, but most users would use an external source of energy for such prolonged use, anyway. Other features included with the device to project a switch on the back, a focus dial and an integrated speaker (with volume buttons) which is offset by a headphone jack.

These new solutions for mass storage optical disk files Sony are planning to market this fall 2012. The price of Sony ODS-D55U and his records have not been released yet.

Sony has not specified what technology used in the new device, however, is likely to be the Blu-ray.

CeBIT 2012: laser projectors by Acer and BenQ

If 2011 was undeniably the year of the LED on the projector market, the laser appears to be in the spotlight this year. Two manufacturers have actually used the CeBIT to announce three projectors of this type.

BenQ BlueCore LX60ST and LW61ST
BenQ has announced two projectors to laser light source, the LX60ST and LW61ST, which share most of their data sheets. A laser light source (as opposed to laser projection process entirely) has the advantage of offering the advantages of the LED without its main disadvantage: low light. The laser therefore offers great endurance, 10 000 h at 2000 ANSI lumens and even 20,000 hours in eco, a high reactivity with a start and stop an instant and, not to spoil, a rate record claimed contrast 80 000:1 and a support for the 3D (active glasses optional). Both models are identical except that one (the LX60ST) houses a DLP solution delivering an XGA resolution ( 1024 x 768 pixels) at 4:3 ratio, while the other (the LW61ST) provides a definition WXGA (1280 x 800 pixels) in the ratio 16:10. Designed for office use, especially in education. They offer a short-range projection of video inputs and HDMI 1.3, VGA, S-Video, composite, but also Ethernet and USB, and supports a pair of speakers 10 W each. Function Eco Blank displaying a blank screen and reducing the brightness to 10% finally allows teachers to attract the attention of their students. The BenQ BlueCore LX60ST and LW61ST will be sold by the end March retail price of 2,200 euros.

Acer K520

Designed also for office use, the Acer K520 is a runner up behind the BenQ LX60ST. It adopts the same process with an XGA DLP laser light source, claimed the same maximum brightness of 2000 ANSI lumens, the same refresh rate of 120 Hz for 3D active and a contrast ratio of 000:1 similar 100. It is however stick to a more common connectivity with HDMI, VGA, composite, and does not carry its own speakers. Release date and price for the sale of this Acer K520 were not communicated.
