Sony has developed a new system of next-generation optical storage. The new unit is called Sony ODS-D55U and has the ability to read/write.

This system also uses SuperSpeed USB 3.0 connectivity provides up to 5 Gbps. As for disk storage, it use special cartridges and are available in capacities ranging from 300 GB to 1.5 TB.

These new solutions for mass storage optical disk files Sony are planning to market this fall 2012. The price of Sony ODS-D55U and his records have not been released yet.

Sony has not specified what technology used in the new device, however, is likely to be the Blu-ray.

The Sony ODS-D55U is designed to create large data files. The ODC1500R disk is dust and water proof, adequate to withstand changes in humidity and temperature.
